Comment: Focus on your front line employees since they have the most contact with your customers.  Involve these employees in developing solutions and decision making. Finally, when it comes to leading employee engagement efforts, leave it to the line managers rather than senior leadership.

Author: Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic

Comment:  “…focusing so much on engagement that we end up neglecting other key drivers of organisational effectiveness and individual career success.”  1) Engagement is a means rather than an end.” “2) Engagement, like anything else, is better in moderation than in excess.” “3) It’s time to reverse the engagement-performance link.” A final thought: perhaps the biggest problem underlying the whole engagement hype is that it creates unrealistic expectations for employees.”

Comment: This press release offers some interesting statistics about how employees receive company communications and says that companies should make sure that mobile access is available to ensure access to information needed. TheEMPLOYEEapp Survey revealed that just over 50% of employees spent a majority of their time behind a desk. Intranets (SharePoint) are used to communicate 33% of the time and yet most employees either have not tried to access them or have difficulty when trying.
