How do you demonstrate your engagement? Engagement isn’t the sole responsibility of the company for which you work. You, as an individual, have a responsibility as well.
When I considered this, I came up with a plan to start tracking my professional and personal development activities outside of the workplace.
Measurement is the first step that leads to control and eventually to improvement. If you can’t measure something, you can’t understand it. If you can’t understand it, you can’t control it. If you can’t control it, you can’t improve it. – H. James Harrington
After reviewing the information I collected, I decided to create an infographic or “a visual image such as a chart or diagram used to represent information or data.”1 The result was a means to illustrate how I spent my time outside of consulting. That was in 2013 and you can learn about the process I used by reading Continuing to Engage Through the Infographic.
Today, I’m releasing my third infographic: Agent In Engagement 2015: A Year In Review [Infographic]

What do think about the 2015 infographic? Given the number of activities and accomplishments I recorded, I was forced to prioritize the items to include. For example, I attended 100+ hours of webinars, 50+ hours of podcasts, and 50 hours of classes/lectures on professional development topics yet was not able to include that as a section given the limited space available.
Don’t wish it was easier, wish you were better. Don’t wish for less problems, wish for more skills. Don’t wish for less challenges, wish for more wisdom. The major value in life is not what you get. The major value in life is what you become. Success is not to be pursued; it is to be attracted by the person you become. – Jim Rohn
I find this exercise very enlightening because it allows me to get an overview of how I spend my time. I can evaluate my success in achieving the goals I set for myself in 2015 as well as better focus on what I need to accomplish in 2016.

What do you think about using an infographic to tell your story? How do you spend your time away from work? How can you demonstrate your intentionality?
